Volunteer Opportunities

We have multiple volunteer opportunities for you to get involved. Perhaps you want to contribute while your buddy is out racing? Or you are banking karma points, either way, we would love to have your support. Below are some common positions for our volunteers:

• Registration Packet Prep
  This is the pre-race packet preparation where little fairies get racer bibs dialed. If you love alphabetizing, affixing labels and have excellent penmanship…this is volunteer night is for you! It usually lasts a few hours and we provide pizza so there is no bonking and our system is 100% accurate.
• Registration Packet Pickup
  Each Friday and Saturday night from 5:00-9:00pm we welcome racers at the Western Colorado University field house. It’s a fun time! We hand out racer bibs, event memorabilia, sponsor goodies and sell one-of-a-kind Growler/Gunnison Trails merchandise at our retail shop. We are here to help racers get settled in, answer questions, and share the stoke.
• Course Marshall
  Do you prefer to be out on course? Then this is the volunteer position for you. You will be placed as needed at a predetermined location to keep traffic flowing in the right direction, and act as a helper to racers in need and/or get them to aid. These positions will be filled early on, and require a pre-event volunteer meeting that will be scheduled the evening before the day you are volunteering. Hartman Rocks familiarity and high clearance vehicle recommended for most positions on course.
  
• Aid Station
  Do you prefer all hands on deck? At aid stations we help racers with whatever situation they find themselves in. Typically, filling a bottle or pack with hydration, passing along a handful of snacks, some light mechanical aid, plenty o’ high fives and fueling the stoke. These positions will be filled early on, and require a pre-event volunteer meeting that will be scheduled the evening before the day you are volunteering.
• Downtown
  These positions are for those who would love to support our racers upon their return from the dirt. Our downtown party and award ceremony has high vibes with food vendors, live music, drinks, prizes and more. We serve as the race headquarters downtown to monitor the party, answer questions, post finishing times and welcome racers back by getting them headed in the direction of a well deserved meal and beverage. Bringing the braun? Drop a message in the volunteer form if you’d like to help setup or breakdown the downtown operations.

Reach out, and we will find a day/time that works for you! Our volunteers are the backbone of this event and we value and respect your generous donation of time. We will try our best to get folks signed up in their preferred spots, but please know the positions are not guaranteed and we plug people in where we have the most need.  Typically, after the event, we host a volunteer appreciation party and would love for you to join us!
